Yahoo Falls Big South Fork National Recreation Area Kentucky Of all the times I've visited Yahoo Falls in Kentucky's Big South Fork National Recreation Area I never realized there was a natural overlook for the falls. I noticed my good friend Greg Davis had perched himself there when we first arrived and I couldn't resist making the easy scramble up to join him and wow! What a view! Looking down on nearly 2/3rds of the 130 ft. waterfall you really got the sense of how large the sandstone recession was as well as how tall the waterfall really was. This was the first time I'd visited the falls with a significant water flow, normally I'm stuck just shooting the recession and the last time I visited I decided I wasn't coming back till it was looking good. After a night of heavy rain, you couldn't have asked for better!
Yahoo Falls Yahoo Falls Recreation Area Big South Fork National Recreation Area Kentucky I had been waiting years to capture the towering Yahoo Falls in the Kentucky section of The Big South Fork National Recreation Area after a good rain and this past January I finally got my chance. Although it wasn't epic, it was really nice and I got to hang out with good friend and fellow photographer Greg Davis. If it wasn't for Greg I would have never taken this shot. When we arrived Greg made is way to an outcropping high above the trail at the mouth of the massive rock house that is behind the falls. Of all the times I'd been to the falls I'd never noticed it before, so I decided to join him. On my way down I decided to work my way in a direction I'd never been before where I found this perspective of the falls. I'm just glad that the level of water had me wanting to explore, since before this shot, I never really had.
